Connie Budzak (vocals, guitar/keys) is the wife of one man (Ken Budzak), the mother of one child, and the worshipper of one God. She is the main lyricist and songwriter in She Says Electric. While she
can play a mean tambourine, Connie mainly plays piano, synthesizer and rhythm guitar (with occasional aspirations to be a lead guitarist). She has attended Friends Langley Vineyard church since 2002, where she is currently the co-worship pastor. Connie is an encouraging worship leader, has a great sense of humor, loves to read, and even dabbles in Facebookery. Connie is the "She" in She Says Electric.
Ben Atkinson (bass, piano) Since the time he was 11 and playing bass in church for the first time, music has been a driving force in Ben Atkinson’s life. Being on stage with more seasoned musicians
and playing in front of a live audience allowed him to grow quickly in proficiency and musicality. As
the years went on and he continued in various musical projects, Ben moved on to other instruments,
furthering his musical inventory. For 2 ½ years he worked in a Vancouver, BC. city core ministry,
training people in the technical, musical and spiritual aspects of music. He has since moved on, living
in Vancouver, BC. Canada with his wife Kathryn and their two cats.
Ken Budzak (drums) likes good sushi, the city he lives in, cheeseburgers and nice people. He really likes (in no particular order) - drums, Snow Patrol, good coffee, science fiction and relaxing evenings. He loves (again in no particular order) - his wife (Connie), God, his daughter and his pup.
He is not overly fond of bad drivers, bad sushi or bad manners, and he has absolutely no time for
rude people or crummy movies - "That's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back!"
Ken has had the best seat in the house for over 25 years. He loves playing drums and creating music,
whether it's with his band, She Says Electric, or with other equally amazing people. He truly believes
worshipping God is what we were created to do, and in his opinion, worshipping on the drums is one
of the greatest ways to do it!
Derek Usher (guitars, vocals) has spent his entire life in and around the indie music scene. Derek started playing bass in punk rock bands as a teen and continued to experiment in a variety of genres, instruments and indie projects through his late 20's.
After becoming a Christian in the early 90's he began to write and perform in church worship groups
and inner city ministries. He joined in forming 'Heatherclarkband' with Heather Clark, Ken/Connie
Budzak at Jesus Feast Ministries, playing lead and acoustic guitar. Derek co-wrote and recorded
guitars on 'Selah', and played lead guitar on 'Wait for Me', 'Vial of Worship' and two of the Praying the
Bible series with Wes Campbell, Nolan Clark and Lou Engle.
Derek is more than a musician, he is also a devoted husband and father, and works in his community
as a Personal and Family Life Coach. "I find the balance between what I do with SSE and my solo stuff
as a musician to be a perfect blend with who I am as a life coach. It gives me an opportunity to express
so much more than one dimension of who I am created to be. Teaching clinics on musicianship and
creative exploration/expression is the natural outgrowth of my journey."
